SRI LANKA: MOST INSTAGRAMMABLE PLACES
Nowadays, travellers very often get inspired by photos taken in cool locations around the world and shared on Instagram. Some spots became so famous that automatically boost up your Instagram reach and contribute to a higher following. What are the most Instagrammable places in Sri Lanka? What are the top things to do in Sri Lanka? What places in Sri Lanka will get you hundreds of likes under your photo? In this blog post, I’m going to share with you the most Instagrammable places in Sri Lanka. Let’s get started!
KANDY TO ELLA TRAIN
Train ride from Kandy to Ella is considered one of the most scenic train rides in the world, and due to this reason, photos taken along the way go viral on Instagram. Just please remember to put safety first! Hanging out of the train door is risky. As this journey is so epic, the train may be quite crowded, especially at high season. In case of problems with taking a perfect shot, don’t get off in Ella, go further to Badulla. Most people get off the train in Ella, so you will get some extra time to take perfect photos with no people at all.
MURAL IN MIRISSA
Street art is quite popular in Sri Lanka. It’s present not only in big cities, but in towns too. Some paintings are just pretty, some promote the Sri Lankan culture, and the other ones aim to educate people. The below mural, showing a peacock is the most popular mural in Sri Lanka. At least according to Instagram. This painted wall is located on Matara Road in Mirissa, near Palm Villa. You will easily notice it from the street, driving slowly from the city centre of Mirissa towards Matara. Go and get a fabulous photo there!
PALM TREE ROPE SWING
What are the other most Instagrammable places in Sri Lanka? Check out the palm tree rope swing at a beach bar called Dream Cabana. For a small fee, you can enjoy a swing on one of the beautiful beaches. Instagram users love photos taken in this particular location. Especially, those captured in the evening, before the sunset when the sky is getting pinkish. Just look at the below photo. Palm tree rope swing is definitely worth doing in Sri Lanka, and it’s also a great way to boost up your Instagram reach. Give it a go!
ROCK AT DALAWELLA BEACH
This incredibly photogenic rock at Dalawella Beach is one of the most Instagrammable places in Sri Lanka. Check out the below picture. It seems like it’s easy to climb up the rock, right? Well… it’s not! The rock is very steep and narrow. When you are next to it, you literally ask yourself, how do people get to its top? How all those photos on Instagram were taken there? If you decide to take an attempt, please be safe, and make sure your photographer knows what he is doing! Trust me, climbing this rock once in a lifetime is enough.
COCONUT TREE HILL
The Coconut Tree Hill in Mirissa is definitely one of the most Instagrammable places in Sri Lanka. Let’s face the truth. This is just a hill with palm trees. But these palm trees are absolutely beautiful. This spot has become quite popular over the past few years, especially on Instagram. Due to that, it’s very common to see here lots of people queuing to take some photos with these tall palm trees. Be patient as some of those photo shootings can take ages. The Coconut Tree Hill is an amazing place to watch the sunset too. Enjoy!
